Korea Day 2: Korean Folk Village

Being a big kdrama fan, one of the items in my bucket list for my trip to Seoul is to visit those cultural places I’ve seen in the drama. So on our second day, I decided to visit at least 3 cultural places, and in this post I’ll be sharing with you some of the photos I took while we were in Korean Folk Village. Enjoy!

“Korean Folk Village introduces traditional culture from the late Joseon period to both local and international visitors through cultural classes experience, shaman faith, seasonal customs and others. Also, the village shows various places with unique features such as a farming village, private house, official districts, Confucian academy, seodang (village school), and a village street in realistic descriptions, as well as, a nobleman’s house and traditional workshop.” (source: visitkorea.or.kr)

May I add, few of my favourite KDrama was filmed in this place!

Note: this is just a first part of our day 2. 😀

Few of Sungkyunkwan Scandal scene were filmed here.
Oh hi Jang-geum! “Jewel in the Palace”

This photo reminds me of Eric and Solar during their WGM days. 😉

Address: 90 Minsokchon-ro, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do
경기도 용인시 기흥구 민속촌로 90 (보라동)

How to get there:

Since we stayed in Itaewon (line 6) below is the direction we took going to Korean Folk Village.

  1. From Itaewon station we got off at Hapjeong station (line 2 & 6) to transfer
  2. From Hapjeong to Gangnam station
  3. From Gangnam station, we took exit 6
  4. From exit 6, we walked straight for about 100meters (approx) to reach the bus stop
  5. We took bus #5500-1
  6. And get off at Korean Folk Village.

If you plan to visit the place, leave early from were you are staying as the bus journey from Gangnam is almost an hour, depending on traffic though. Plus, when you arrive early, you will have the place all by yourself. 😉 When we arrived only few fellow tourists were their, thats why we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the place.

Korea Day 1: N Tower and Itaewon

The long wait is over. After years months of convincing the husband to allow me to travel to Korea has come to an end, and he said YES, finally! But with him, of course. When I received the go signal, I didn’t waste my time, I immediately file for a leave, search for cheap flights, prepared the necessary documents for our visa applications, and look for a place to stay.

    • leaves approved
    • flights booked
    • visas approved
    • accommodations booked

Prior to convincing my husband, I already knew which places I wanted to see when in Seoul. Two weeks before our flight, I tried to make our itinerary, but unfortunately my brain didn’t cooperate. So I gave up, anyways I still have enough time to do it. One week before the flight, I sit down in front of my pc, tried to make our itinerary, and viola, in a span of 2 hours, I was able to iron out our trip to Seoul.

After all the chaos and headache I went through, finally were all set to see Seoul. I was so ready and excited. I am all set to travel together with my basic knowledge with the Korean language, when I say basic, its very basic, (hi, hello, how are you) hahahahaha… 🙂 But I’m pretty sure I can manage, whats the point of watching those dramas without picking up something from it, right? So yeah, I’ve convinced myself, I can communicate properly.

Before I bore you with my rumblings, let me just share with you some of the photos we took on our first day. We went to Namsan tower first then back to where we stayed, Itaewon.

Hike up to N Tower.

Stop, and smell the flowers.
I find this photo really cute.
My yellow backpack says, thank you N Tower, we had fun. 😉

As much as we wanted to stay longer at N Tower, we decided to go down after few hours. Were still tired from the 8 hours flight, mind you it was my first long flight.

Before going back to our cute Air BnB accommodation we decided to roam around Itaewon and have our dinner first. Sharing with you few of the photos we took while we were in the area. I really wanted to post more photos, but I can’t decide which one to share.

Itaewon is such a beautiful neighbourhood. I can’t put in the right words to describe the place. Hmmmppp how about this, “visit Seoul and see for yourself”. 🙂 See you again on my next post about my Seoul getaway. 😉

Photo Diary: Healthier Lunch

My 4th and final photo diary from our Malaysian get away is finally here. (slow clap) 😉 You can check my older posts here, and here and here. 😉

On our last day in Malaysia we have to travel all the way from KL to Petaling Jaya, coz I accidentally booked our return ticket from Petaling Jaya-Singapore instead of KL-Singapore. (face palm) Good thing the 2 guys (husband and a friend) I was with didn’t complain at all. Or maybe they were actually complaining from the inside. We arrived in Petaling Jaya quite early, so we still have enough time to roam around the mall, we roam around Utama Shopping Centre. Which by the way according to my dear friend wiki, “It is the largest shopping mall in Malaysia and the seventh largest in the world”. Since I was already done with my shopping back in KL my next agenda was to look for a good place to eat. Luckily, we found this organic restaurant, and we decided to have our last meal in Malaysia a lil bit healthier. Im not saying we’ve been eating crap the whole time we were their. 🙂

We had our lunch at Opika Organic Restaurant. The food was really good that according to my husband he was energised after eating, which we agree.

The way they presented the food is instagram worthy, I tell you. Unfortunately, I didn’t do justice with my photos. Anyways, Im presenting you the food that we had. The way they look, you could say its really healthy.

Photo Diary: Putrajaya

The third instalment of my Malaysian photo diary goes to Putrajaya!

Putrajaya, officially the Federal Territory of Putrajaya, is a planned city and the federal administrative centre of Malaysia. The seat of government was shifted in 1999 from Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya, because of overcrowding and congestion in the former. Kuala Lumpur remains Malaysia’s national capital, and is the seat of the King and the Parliament, and is the country’s commercial and financial centre. Putrajaya was the idea of former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. It became Malaysia’s third Federal Territory, after Kuala Lumpur and Labuan, in 2001. Wikipedia

Below are some of the photos I snapped while strolling around Putrajaya, enjoy!

Photo Diary: Food Tripping

What is visiting Kuala Lumpur without going for a food trip. And where is the best place for that? None other than the very famous Jalan Alor! Though anywhere in KL is really a heaven for food tripping, but Jalan Alor for me ranks the 1st.

Jalan-Alor-02

Good thing the place where we stayed in is just a five cartwheels away. So, after a very tiring day we head down to Jalan Alor for our dinner and drinks. I have compiled all the food we ate during our stay in KL, not in the photos are Mee Goring which by the way I finished within 3 minutes, I was too hungry plus its really yum. Egg Prata which the husband had for every breakfast (3 days). According to him, egg prata in KL tastes different from what we get here in SG, which I couldn’t agree more. And oh, finally I got the chance to try their Roti Canai, (Plain Prata here). The look is the same from plain prata but the taste is really different, maybe the way they knead the dough? Not sure.

And lastly, what is visiting KL without dropping at Petronas Tower! As I’ve mentioned in my previous post, its my third time visiting the city, but I always see to it that I have a spare time to drop by to this gorgeous beauty.
