I Visited Singapore!

I went back to Singapore shorter than expected! Yes people, I was Singapore last week, I was there for a good 3 days. Short but sweet. Short but fruitful. Short but worth it.

Before flying to Singapore, the husband and I went and explore Taiwan, which I will be blogging posting real soon.

The reason why I was in Singapore is that, the husband got a new job and I have to help him look for a new place and settle down, which happens quiet fast, thankfully!

Aside from looking for a place to stay and meet with my officemates for lunch, the only thing I did was eat… eat.. eat.., okay I also did laundry (in the hostel) and sleep. But most of the time I was eating! You can’t blame me though, I miss Singapore food! Before flying back to SG I already knew what will be my first meal, which didn’t happened coz the shop was still closed when went for it, but luckily I had it on my second meal. Im sharing with you the food I had while I was in the Lion City, enjoy, while I’ll be in the corner staring at our wall while thinking of having laksa for lunch. 🙂

It’s not even half of the food I wanna eat again, but these are my favourite ones, so I have to have them first. Once Im back I’ll indulge myself once again with my favourite Singaporean food. 😀

Photo Diary: Healthier Lunch

My 4th and final photo diary from our Malaysian get away is finally here. (slow clap) 😉 You can check my older posts here, and here and here. 😉

On our last day in Malaysia we have to travel all the way from KL to Petaling Jaya, coz I accidentally booked our return ticket from Petaling Jaya-Singapore instead of KL-Singapore. (face palm) Good thing the 2 guys (husband and a friend) I was with didn’t complain at all. Or maybe they were actually complaining from the inside. We arrived in Petaling Jaya quite early, so we still have enough time to roam around the mall, we roam around Utama Shopping Centre. Which by the way according to my dear friend wiki, “It is the largest shopping mall in Malaysia and the seventh largest in the world”. Since I was already done with my shopping back in KL my next agenda was to look for a good place to eat. Luckily, we found this organic restaurant, and we decided to have our last meal in Malaysia a lil bit healthier. Im not saying we’ve been eating crap the whole time we were their. 🙂

We had our lunch at Opika Organic Restaurant. The food was really good that according to my husband he was energised after eating, which we agree.

The way they presented the food is instagram worthy, I tell you. Unfortunately, I didn’t do justice with my photos. Anyways, Im presenting you the food that we had. The way they look, you could say its really healthy.

Photo Diary: Food Tripping

What is visiting Kuala Lumpur without going for a food trip. And where is the best place for that? None other than the very famous Jalan Alor! Though anywhere in KL is really a heaven for food tripping, but Jalan Alor for me ranks the 1st.

Jalan-Alor-02

Good thing the place where we stayed in is just a five cartwheels away. So, after a very tiring day we head down to Jalan Alor for our dinner and drinks. I have compiled all the food we ate during our stay in KL, not in the photos are Mee Goring which by the way I finished within 3 minutes, I was too hungry plus its really yum. Egg Prata which the husband had for every breakfast (3 days). According to him, egg prata in KL tastes different from what we get here in SG, which I couldn’t agree more. And oh, finally I got the chance to try their Roti Canai, (Plain Prata here). The look is the same from plain prata but the taste is really different, maybe the way they knead the dough? Not sure.

And lastly, what is visiting KL without dropping at Petronas Tower! As I’ve mentioned in my previous post, its my third time visiting the city, but I always see to it that I have a spare time to drop by to this gorgeous beauty.

Our Experience to the Khmer Food

The moment the husband and I set our foot in Siem Reap his first question was, “so what to eat and where to eat now?”. E, prefers Vegetarian food, he considers himself a fake vegetarian 🙂 because he still eat egg and mushroom. I, on the other hand is practicing Pescan diet, so its not really hard for me to find a place to eat when we travel. I admit, it was my bad as I didn’t really research well for vegetarian places in Siem Reap, I was actually hoping that its very easy to spot one. 🙂

Luckily, some of the restaurants serves vegetable dishes, though its not really pure vegetarian as they also include fish sauce to their ingredients. 🙂 I can’t really call E a vegetarian, because again, he still eats egg, hehehe, so problem solved. We will just order a vegetable dish for him.

Below are the food we had during our 2 days stay in Siem Reap. We had our breakfast at the hotel, just the basic one, egg, bread and coffee.

Khmerfood-1

Four our lunch, he had this Khmer mixed vegetable in a coconut milk, too bad I forgot what is the name of this dish. It was so good that he emptied the bowl.

khmerfood-2

We also ordered this button mushroom in oyster sauce, though nothing is special on this dish, but we were able to finish this as well.

khmerfood-3

As for me, I had this sour fish soup. Its similar to Thai’s tom yum soup less spicy. I find this really yummy that I finished all the fish and the soup, too bad i didn’t finish the veggies.

For our dinner, E and I head out from the hotel and decided to join some of the tourists, where else? Of course to Night Market and Pub Street! 🙂

khmerfood-4

The husband decided not to eat dinner as he was still full from eating 2 fresh coconut. 🙂  So I decided to order vegetarian spring rolls with peanut sauce for him, in case he feels like eating while watching me. 🙂 Its strange though, but every time I see spring rolls in the menu, either fresh or fried, I always had this urge to order them.

khmerfood-5

I had obsession with soup 🙂 so for dinner I ordered this hot pot fish and vegetable soup.

khmerfood-6

Too bad, on our second day lunch I didn’t took photos. ;(

For dinner, we went back to Night Market and the stars are in our favour, we saw Chamkar Vegetarian Restaurant! Finally, a vegetarian restaurant, wohoo!

khmerfood-7

For starters we had this bread, vegetable and fruit plater with eggplant and avocado dip.

khmerfood-8

I ordered stir fried Glass Noodles in coconut milk and curry sauce with vegetables and fried tofu. I find it salty though, but more or less its yum, plus its organic, who am I to complain. 🙂

khmerfood-9

E ordered this mixed vegetable soup, that again I forgot the name. haaayyy… According to him, this dish is also yum

Overall, we enjoyed the Khmer food, its new to our tastebuds. I’m hoping one of these days I’ll will come across a good Khmer food here in Singapore.
